Humans Save Trees Campaigns

Humans are the only creatures in this world who cut the trees, make paper from it and then write 'Save the Trees' on it.

When we change our mindset we will enhance our lives and our planet. As long as we are stuck in the same repetitive actions from within the box we confine ourselves to, we're only heading downwards, and in bulk.

Out of personal experience, I've noticed that certain cultures are built on the philosophy of consuming, take for instance accounting, one of the most important tasks in life; an accountant can make a huge impact on our environment, like in the case of trees.

I know a grocery network of shops where they do their accounts on the bank statement and they literally punch each single sale on a separate bill which they fill in a voucher for it, hand the voucher to the teller at the bank and make a separate entry for it. Imagine each single day each accountant from each of their shops bringing about 150 to 200 vouchers filled in mostly with one item then creating a bank deposit entry for it.

The worse to come, each day they generate a statement from the bank which comes in about 10 pages on average for each of their shops, and at the end of the month, they have the monthly statement generated and sent to them by post. Keep in mind they already have that detailed on their books at each shop which they tally with the bank statement, and further, they tally the same with their main office with duplicates of each statement sheet and their tally sheets!!!! That's printing unnecessary thousands of pages each month that otherwise could be put into 30 pages for their 30 shops and use online banking for daily tallying.

That's just an example of a case study I did during work and I had to chase the entire process when I noticed their cashier standing at the teller in my bank's branch before I arrived and until I finished my visit for about 30 minutes, and he was still there with a bunch of vouchers needing to be deposited, with bills of Euro 1, 2, 3,.... 10, and some changes attached to each voucher to make it easier for the teller.

After chasing the cashier and asking him about the process, I found out that the entire chain from the cashier doing the deposit, to two accountants sitting at each shop, to their city's main office, all the way to the auditing department, are all Indians and they all came from the same school somewhere in Kerala.

I'm proud to have convinced them to make a single deposit for each day at the bank for each branch, showing them they already had the details at the shop which they can tally the total with, and thus saved thousands of papers and minutes of work and conveyance from shops to the bank and on the way...

The above is a small example of how we consume the planet and what needs to be changed to save it.
