Penang Day 3: Penang Hill, Ali Nasi Lemak!

We got lunch at Ali Nasi Lemak in the Sri Weld Food Court. This hawker center felt very local and all the food we got there was pretty damn solid! I have to say that Penang is one of the best places for delicious, and affordable food! The Nasi Lemak we ordered was packed with a egg and anchovies, drizzled on top was that heavy savory sauce that gave the dish all its spices and flavor.

After lunch we took a Grab to Penang Hill. It cost 30 Ringget ($7.70) for a round trip ticket. It’s a 5 minute tram ride up and you get access to Penang Hill. There are many spots you can visit on the hill. We didn't have all day to spend there, so we just did the walkable spots.

Today was the only day I didn’t want to put on bug spray and that was the worst decision ever. Copious amounts of mosquitoes here, I forgot that it's basically a jungle on a mountain in South-East Asia. I saw many insects but no animals which was unfortunate. I wish we had more time there, because a couple hours was definitely not enough time at Penang Hill. Next time, I would definitely go to a spot where we can see some wild animals and exotic plants.

Since it was our last day in Penang, we were craving food! After Penang Hill, we went to the first mall since Singapore, Gurney Plaza, and went to get Din Tai Fung. Just to compare if its better or worse. Plus, I was itching for some of that 千層糕. Had a bowl of Chendol and Asam Laksa at a Teochew Chendol store. Pretty good, not the best Asam Laksa, but solid Chendol.

Ate some more at the Gurney Drive Hawker Center after coming back from the Avatar Garden down the street. We head to Phuket tomorrow at 2pm. Durian for brunch?!
