James Gunn, director of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, tweeted multiple jokes about pedophilia. James Gunn posted photos of himself at a pedophilia-themed costume party.

"They're just jokes," his apologists (including the Guardians cast) say. "They were just adults dressing up."

Okay.

What if he posted jokes about mob-lynching? What if he attended a lynching-themed costume party? Is that all good? They're "just jokes." They're just "adults dressing up."

Harmless fun? Or would lynching jokes and parties reveal something about the racial inclinations of their joke-tellers and partygoers?
