Antichrist will materialize and he will do "great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast." Evidence suggests that what John saw in the future, these false miracles, were actually the result of advanced technology. It is amazing how science fiction has given us parallel glimpses into the ultra modern world, and the power to send fire from the skies has been featured in science fiction stories such as "War of the Worlds" and "I Remember Lemuria."
