On October 1, a tourist in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, uploaded two videos on social platforms, stating that there were 4 peacocks tied to branches by staff in the scenic area of Bird Island Park. In response to this, the staff of the scenic spot responded to the JiMu news reporter saying that there were too many tourists on the first day of the National Day holiday, and it was inevitable that someone would tease the peacock or feed the peacock. In order to prevent the peacock from attacking and harming the tourists, the peacock was tied up with a rope for safety reasons. The legs and feet are now loosely tied for peacocks, and this kind of viewing has stopped.

There are 4 peacocks standing on a tree trunk about 1 meter high. Among them are 2 white peacocks and 2 colorful peacocks. There are many tourists around and a staff member wearing an orange vest. A netizen said when shooting the video: “I thought the peacock was standing on the tree by himself. It turned out that the peacock had its legs and feet tied on the tree. It’s so uncomfortable to see this peacock.” The video also said: “There is a white peacock hanging on it. Then, the feet are swollen but no one cares."

Later, the netizen posted another video saying that he had contacted the park staff and had untied the white peacock with swollen feet, but the other three had not been untied.

At about 9 am on October 2, Mr. Cao, a staff member of Bird Island in Shenyang, responded to the JiMu News reporter, saying that after investigation, this happened in the scenic spot. "Peacocks have the habit of standing on branches, and they can stand steadily. The reason why ropes are tied on their feet is for the safety of tourists." Mr. Cao explained that these are just newly domesticated peacocks, plus National Day. There are too many tourists during the holiday, and the peacocks will inevitably be frightened when the tourists tease and feed, and they will attack the tourists.

Mr. Cao said that when the scenic spot opened at 9 am on the 1st, four peacocks were tied to the trunk at that time. As for the untie time, he is still unclear. Regarding the tourists' reports that the peacock's feet were tied and swollen, he said that no injuries were found when the peacock was tied up. After the tourists reported that the peacock was untied and treated by a professional veterinarian, the peacock was healthy. "After that, we also untied the other three peacocks. We didn't do this today." He said.

Another staff member of the scenic spot said that this was the first time that a peacock had been tied up. She was very sorry for the doubts of tourists and the public. She has stopped this behavior so as to prevent such incidents from happening again.
