Changing Old Habits

in #peace6 years ago

Brad showed me this speech a couple weeks ago and it's by far one of my favourites. "5 minutes for the next 50 years of your life," by Matthew McConaughey, he nails it on the head in so many ways, I see so many people beating themselves up sometimes. Wondering why there life is a certain way, why they're not in a happy place, wondering how people could do this to them, why is life always turning against them. But I believe that when you shift your perspective and see each hard time as a lesson (as tough as it may be), to see that in order for there to be change we must change our habits and ways of life first. We need to perhaps sit back a little more so we can actually witness the beauty that's surrounding us without so many distractions. Or maybe we need to step away from drinking and being social for a little while. Maybe we should try and avoid coffee, sugar, deep fried foods, shopping, smoking pot and even sex for even just a week! We are always needing to stimulate ourselves with something, but what can this life teach you when you learn to step away from always needing or wanting something? Sitting through those emotions of wanting a piece of cake, glass of wine, and ask yourself is this coming from a place of love? Or am I trying to stuff this emptiness that's held deep inside me with an person, place or thing. 2016-02-29 18.56.38.jpgBy stepping back for a moment and allowing yourself to clear the mind from these addictive behaviours can bring you to a place of more freedom, peace and clarity. It is really hard, but if you're willing to make the change and do the work.. I can only promise that more light, love and happiness will come your way. ❤🙏🏼
