How do you do paintless dent repair?
I noticed a small dent in one of the passenger side doors of my car a few weeks ago. The sort of dint that looked like a knee had gone into it or something. I had planned to see my repair guy, but before I got around to it about a week or so later, it had disappeared on its own. A total mystery.
It's a black car and only a few years old.
Could it be that heat from the Sun caused it to undent itself?

Sometimes you can be lucky :)
It is possible that being a shallow dent, the outer skin can become stuck on the sound deadening bog inside the door, and this can then release due to vibration, or very possibly from being heated by the sun as you stated - causing the dent to pop out by itself. fixing small sharp dents takes a bit of training and the correct tools.

Yes, I put it down to luck. It was shallow and about knee sized so I'm very happy it sorted itself out.
My grandfather was a panel beater, opened his own shop just after WWII.
I used to love spending time at his shop as a kid. All the old cars and the smell of paint was a kind of heaven for me. Great memories.
The guy I get to fix cars when I need it done these days is very good.
There is an art to it, that's for sure.
