American President Elected Joe Biden is reported to be meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu soon. Quoted from the Israeli government's press statement, the two of them need to meet to discuss several issues that are pending discussion, including strengthening cooperation between America and Israel.

"The two of them have agreed to meet immediately to discuss various issues and reaffirm the need to strengthen cooperation between the two countries," the Israeli government said, quoted by Reuters news agency, Wednesday, November 18, 2020.

"We look forward to working with Israel to build stronger cooperation," said Joe Biden's press statement.

Netanyahu was among the heads of state who was late in congratulating Joe Biden. When Joe Biden was declared President of America on November 7, 2020, Netanyahu did not wish him good luck the day after.

In fact, in his congratulations, Netanyahu did not mention Joe Biden as America's Chosen President. Various parties suspect that Netanyahu is afraid to offend Donald Trump who is struggling to reverse the results of the American Presidential Election. When asked for his comment, Netanyahu gave a defensive reply that his response was not important.

As is well known, Donald Trump has 'contributed' a lot to Israel. Apart from claiming Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, he also helps Israel to improve relations with Arab countries. All of this is included in Donald Trump's plan which he calls Peace in the Middle East.

However, as Joe Biden's victory became clearer, Netanyahu became more flexible. His administration said the talks with Donald Trump were warm. Similar comments came from Israeli President Reuven Rivlin who called Joe Biden an old friend of Israel.

Although currently the relationship between the two countries seems warm, it is possible that Joe Biden will change some of the agreements made by Donald Trump. For example, matters relating to Iran and Palestine. Regarding Iran, for example, Joe Biden signaled that he would bring America back to the Iran nuclear restriction agreement (JCPOA).

Palestinians don't believe America's policy on them will change much under Biden and Harris. However, they argue, the absence of Donald Trump will give them more room to negotiate more smoothly with the American government.

"From what I heard about Joe Biden and his deputy, Kamala Harris, they are more balanced and do not just submit to Benjamin Netanyahu. In other words, they are not as dangerous as Trump," said Nabil Saaath, spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
