Palestinians criticize the Guatemalan move to move the embassy to Jerusalem

• The Palestine Liberation Organization or PLO, threw a strong condemnation of a Guatemalan decision following the United States (US) move to move their Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Hanan Ashrawi, a member of PLO's Executing Committee, said the move of Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales to move his embassy to Jerusalem is not surprising. Because, Asharawi continued, he has the same attitude and mindset with US President, Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"Combine the extremist and literalist evalingelis (and) you have a combination of deadly factors that make these three people, Netanyahu, Trump and Morales, move toward the adoption of illegal strategies and policies and that destroy the possibility of peace," Asharwai said, 5/3).

Meanwhile, Guatemala's Ambassador Sara Castaneda is reportedly seen in Jerusalem and looks like he is looking for a property, allegedly to be the office of the Guatemalan Embassy in Israel.

Previously proclaimed, Morales in a press conference in Washington, DC, stated that his country will also move the embassy to Jerusalem in May.

"I want to thank President (Donald) Trump for leading his bold decision, which has encouraged us to do the right thing," Morales said in a speech to the annual Israeli-American Public Committee conference.

Guatemala is one of the few countries to support President Trump's decision in December to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The country became the first after the United States set a date to move its embassy in Israel
