Latest News: Brisbane International will be the first Cryptocurrency Airport
The first cryptocurrency friendly Terminal
Brisbane Airport will become soon the first Cryptocurrency Airport Terminal, according to the official website of BNE Airport.
BNE Airport is working with TravelbyBit and retailers to allows cryptocurrency payments into the terminal shopping, to become the first cryptocurrency friendly airport in the world, with cafès, restaurants and stores accepting Bitcoin.
What cryptocurrencies will be accepted by BNE Airport
Airport administration is working to accept also Ether and Dash and Steem (according to the official website of TravelbyBit) to purchase at stores such as The Botanist (Kitchen and Bar), Spoon (Cafè), Windmill & Co., and Forte Espresso, as well as nine stores including Australian Way, Carry On, Merino Collection, Dreamtime Journey.
The strategy under the partnership
Why an Airport should enabling crypto payments? The choice can make sense, cause Australia can taking advantage from China ban and the threats from South Korea. The General Manager of Strategic Planning and Developing, Real Hellemons, said:
Furthermore, partnership between Brisbane Airport and TravelbyBit aim to promote community projects, support local businesses to grow up, improve the passenger experience with new opportunities, and become a leader in the airport digital innovation space. Mr Hellemons also said:
What that partnership means for Travelbit
Brisbane Airport is only the starting point for travelers who want to visit this Australia's city. TravelbyBit is building a network of Brisbane's merchants who take payments in digital currencies. From transport from airport to a Luxury Hotel accommodation, from food to entertainment. Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley has been rebranded by locals as ‘Crypto Valley’ and more than 26 merchants in the Brisbane downtown now take digital currency payments.
So now you can have a dinner at Giardinetto, rent a bike from Ecotekk, have fun in Lost Bar and Nightclub and go to sleep to Emporium Hotel. Tomorrow The Royal Black Private Transport will bring you directly to the Airport. Maybe one day we will able to purchase also the flight tickets using steems!
Great news, but I think they must start accepting Ether and Dash to be more attractive. Since as far as I know BTC transaction fee makes small purchases not reasonable.
I totally agree. BNE Airport said that plan is going to accept Bitcoin, Ether Dash, while Travelbybit said that merchants in Brisbane accept yet Steem! So maybe Steem will be enabled in the Airport too!
thanks to knowing it
this is really cool news actually, and for a prominent airport like brisbane this is going to reach a lot of people and expose them to the ways crypto can and will be used in every day life. hopefully a boost for all of us!
