Christmas Tree Donut Ornament Tutorial

in #payitforward7 years ago

Hello Folk! Today, I want to share how I made my donut ornaments for my Christmas tree. This is how they looked in the end:

Let's make the "icing" first.

Since I am using air clay, I read from the label that I can add a bit of water to arrive at a desired consistency. I cannot generally speak for every brand out there because I encountered an air clay which was acrylic based. Just check the label or packaging for instructions on how you can "soften" the clay.

I placed a black clay in a paper cup (I do not want to clean up after) and just steadily added water until I have an "icing" like consistency. I prepared 2 colors- black and white.

Just stir....

And stir.

I prefer to roll out my "sprinklers" and have it dry up a bit before cutting them up because, slightly dried clay holds their form better than newly rolled ones.

Roll a tiny ball

I used the back of an icing pipe to get to the "perfect" circle.

Repeat doing this- with whatever color you prefer.

Cut the "sprinklers." You folks saw me "cutting" my sprinklers with cutters but when I am using air clay, I prefer to use scissors because its faster and more convenient.

It's time to decorate your donuts!

The clay should be thinner than the earlier ones........

Get your "icing" and a tooth pick (that's what I used here!)

Be creative in your designs. There's no right or wrong way of doing this.

If you wanted to try doing this, wait for the black "icing" before applying the white one.

Just mix the sprinklers together.

The motto for this season folks is being creative. I just want you to see how easy it is to make things using materials which were considered "children's toys."I personally prefer using them because they are cheap, non toxic and, they are as about as good as the "professional" grade ones.

Its actually a fun activity for anyone and a great bonding moments for parents and kids alike!

Sort:

You better watch out because if you make those too perfect, someone might accidentally eat them! 😜

I see you have been whaled! At last! Very cool!

Yeah! It's quite a great feeling! hahahahahaha I am actually watching for kids coming over for christmas in case they start snacking on it....
