Day 9 - @pifc's Curation Contest Guest Judge's Role

Yesterday I asked for more suggestions and @lynncoyle1 offered up this idea:

Here's an idea for a post: "What you have to do if you're a guest judge".

No better time then now to lay this out for all future Guest Judges and save us from trying to explain it week after week. Great idea @lynncoyle1!

Reading, UpVoting, and don't forget the Comments!

Each week our judges will break all the curation entries in half so as a Judge you will be assigned all of the Even or Odd entries to visit. To keep this simple we list all the entries at the end of the main contest post each week and number them. Do my best to update this at least twice a day to give all the bloggers as much exposure as possible.

Each of the curation entries will have 2 Featured Bloggers and maybe a Bonus Blogger based on the week. You are focusing on the 2 required featured bloggers for judging, but please feel free to visit all 3.

You will need to visit the 2 featured bloggers and read their posts. Then give an upvote that you feel has been earned and leave a comment to let them know you read their post. Seriously the comments are so important! Each judge decides what percentage they vote at so use your best judgement, but the idea is to help get some rewards into the hands of deserving bloggers.

After visiting the 2 featured bloggers please leave a comment on the entry. Let them know what you thought of the featured bloggers and give them a vote for their efforts.

Judges Choice Award

As you are visiting all of the curation entries you will need to come up with a way to track which entries you liked the best. At the end of the week you will be buying an SBI Share for the Entry which you feel had the highest quality featured bloggers. This contest is not a writing contest and proper grammar and formatting of the entry post isn't required to win so please base the winner purely on the quality of the content they featured.

Now quality content is subjective and that is a good thing. I don't want posts about crap that can be found with a simple google search. Personally I love art entries, music entries, and others that revolve around someone showing us what they created. So to me I'd rate a step by step documented drawing much higher then facts about a flower or some tech news. But to each their own and it's your job to decide what you feel is the entry with the 2 best featured blog posts.

The Steem Basic Income share is purchased typically by each judge for their pick. Now if for some reason you don't want to purchase this SBI share but really want to be a judge lets chat.

Nicely done @minnowbuilder. Actually reading helps immensely LOL, but I've seen so many, there is no way someone read it. Comments should incorporate a little bit about what the post was about or your feelings on it. (IMO) This is all from a general standpoint. I know I don't like it when some comments. Nice post, especially since I encourage interaction.

I can only speak for myself since my VP is pfft right now. I try to upvote everyone at 100%. 50% of .01 is still dust. I feel the upvote backs up my words.

What I don't like and I don't want to touch are solo pictures. Ones I cannot tell who took it. Ones where is says La-La Bay and that's it. If you're taking pictures comment on them. If you want examples ask away, there are several people I like.

Art is a little different. I love it when you see a process. Yet I know sometimes you enter a zen place and documenting the process just escapes you. I do give a little leeway. Mostly, tell me what motivated you? Or include a poem or quotation to go along with it. While it's usually not enough to meet a lot of curation standards, due to length. Just that little bit is usually enough to get me to look more deeply at it.

@viking-ventures did a post today How to Get Curated about how she curates and suggestions I'd suggest give this a once over for both a posting perspective and for a curating perspective. It's great advice for ALL of us. Just because some of us have been around for 1yr, 6mos, 3mos doesn't mean we're 100% a 100% of the time.

I hope this helps ✨

Great information to add to the post. Appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts also.

Totally agree on not adjusting the vote down to 0.01 (or less!) I think the best way to manage the voting is to lower the percentage until you're just comfortably at 0.02 (or whatever your goal is) - so you're still giving good votes, but also managing your VP a bit better.

Totally agree with all your points - and I'm glad that you're sharing it onward. I do plan to follow up this post with ones about .... say... top 5 ways to not get curated by me... and top 10 ways to get curated by me...

I definitely think that if others know what is looked at in curating it should help them with better content, therefore help with more visibility. Especially with @pifc and possibly @asapers

I like those idea. To me its a good incentive.

Thanks a lot for this explanation. I feel that it won't be long until you'll need to increase the number of judges... and separate the entries into 3 groups instead of 2.

Keep up with the good work. It's great to see how quickly it is spreading!

That's the plan :) It was getting close, we've been steady right around 17 entries for a couple of weeks. That should be an easy fix. I know I have started and so has @lynncoyle1 of encouraging the features to join in.

Nice one! Thanks for explaining all of this.

It was a good idea, wasn't it? haha

Pat yourself on the back ;)

I gave her the ninja kitty!! (I think it is anyway :P) Sometimes you do have to toot your own horn LOL

Would rather see self back patting over a self pity party any day!

Yes it was :) You did good 🐱‍👓

This really was a great idea! It will be perfect to have for future judges.
The new graphics are looking really nice as well.
