Pattaya Street Performers

I was on the walking street in Pattaya, Thailand during the evening and as you can imagine the environment brings out all types of people and I mean all types. People just hanging out, some trying to make a buck, others people watching, drinking and engaged in various types of activity. Every bar had women and ladyboys outside working to get the passersby to come in, some were sort of passive but others were rather aggressive. All were dressed provocatively or at a minimum in some interesting clothing combinations.

Back to the street performers though. For the most part they were quite young probably to use a mixture of entertainment and youth to evoke sympathy. One in particular I saw out the couple of nights I was there was a very small girl, perhaps 8ish I’m not sure … Young. There didn’t seem to be an adult watching or nearby and she appeared to be on her own. She had a hula hoop and was quite good at working the crowd. She was really giving it her all it appeared and worked late into the night and the people loved it. I passed her several times over the course of a few hours and she was spinning away or walking up to the pedestrians in an attempt to get them to donate.

She was dressed in pink and made up to look much older, it was cute and funny at the same time. It looked like she was doing a brisk business as the people seemed to be stopping to get a picture and donate money.

As I walked down the street there were many more people on the street doing their thing with costumes, musical instruments and providing entertainment. Further on toward the dock there were face painters and musicians which all seemed to be doing quite a good job. I even think I saw a couple westerners out performing for cash.

Anyhow, this page is somewhat devoted to the girl in the pink outfit as I really thought it was hilarious.
