Even when I was a statist I never understood the need of some to protect their country's "good name" by ignoring obvious moral travesties.

This tendency among "loyal citizens" tends to rear its ugly head most often when in conversation with people from other nations. It's like they need to prove, "My masters are better than your masters!"
