Opening ceremony of new Tesco in Wangsa Walk Mall

in #partiko5 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone! Today I went to the opening ceremony of a new Tesco outlet in Wangsa Walk Mall, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The ceremony started around 9.30am. My family and I went early around the time so that we can join and also enjoy some first day offers and discounts. For the people in Malaysia especially Kuala Lumpur, the new Tesco outlet is located in Wangsa Maju.

This is right in front of the new outlet. As you can see, it was getting crowded because many people came to join the opening ceremony and first day sale.

A free buffet was offered for customers. There were many types of meals ranging from snacks to heavy food such as noodles. In the picture above, the lady is making a food item using a deep fryer. I think this is a cool idea to draw more people in because customers who are early can have their breakfast while waiting for the event to start.

The opening ceremony was started with prayers. Then, a few performances were done. One of them was a form of traditional native music performance as you can see in the picture above.

There was also a lion dance performance. It was my favourite! It is done by business owners mostly in order to bring in good luck and prosperity especially during the start of something new.

The people at the table in the picture above are some of the employees of Tesco. They were helping the customers regarding membership. I didn't take pictures during shopping because it was quite crowded and it was best to be on the move. Just so you know, many items were at a discounted rate. Some of them are cooking items such as onions and garlic, certain prawn varieties, detergents, soaps and tissue rolls. Things in Tesco brand were also cheaper than the market price.

Tesco E-card

One of them approached me and informed about their shopping app. The picture above is a screenshot of it. It is called Tesco Collectibles. You can either become a member and get a physical card or just register in the app using your mobile number and get an e-card.

It serves the purpose of a physical card but it is more convenient as everything is in digital form. In order to use it, all you have to do is register and there will be a barcode given. Just take a screenshot of the barcode and use it whenever you purchase items in Tesco as it can be scanned during purchases.

There will be a digital stamp given for every RM 30.00 spent. The stamp will automatically appear in the stamp section of your app when you pay the required amount using the barcode. The stamps can be used to exchange for goods depending on how many you have. By the way, the same barcode image can be used by your family members as well and all the points will go to your shopping account.

This is my happy face. While exiting, I went to pay the parking fee at the automated machine and to my surprise, it was only RM 1.00. The usual parking fee in Wangsa Walk Mall starts from RM 3.00 but today, the customers were given a discount.

I hope that you find my post helpful in case you are from K.L., Malaysia and plan on going to this new Tesco outlet. Thank you for reading and have a great day ahead!
