Catches of Fishermen Down, Fish Prices Soar

During this week the catch of fishermen in East Aceh District, Aceh Province, Indonesia has dropped dramatically. As a result, the condition triggered a surge in the price of marine fish so that people complained, including traders or mobile fishers.
The sea fish sellers were forced to sell makeshift fish at more expensive prices.
As a result, fish catches are limited so prices soar dramatically, even reaching more than usual prices. Like medium-sized tuna, starting from usually Rp. 15,000 to Rp. 20,000 per kilo, now it has jumped to Rp. 30,000 to Rp. 35,000 per kilogram.
Rising fish prices complained by consumers.
Nikken, a consumer, claims that he can only buy half a kilogram of fish. In fact, at normal prices, he used to buy one kilogram of fish.
According to Adam, one of the traders, as long as the price of sea fish rises which causes the absence of buyers, they lose their turnover by 50 percent.
