Museo Sugbo: A Jail to Bail in the Past

in #partiko5 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians! Good day! I am here again to show you what museums I have visited in Gabii sa Kabilin. One of those museum is Museo Sugbo ( Cebu Museum) which was a jail before and now it is turned into a museum. With its welcoming white and brick facade, you'll surely can't get enough of what's inside!

This is the entrance of the museum that leads to every displays that shows how significant our history is.

The displays on the right were the dresses and other traditional dresses here in the Philippines.

The room also across the photo above shows how people lived before.

There was a house in a miniature version showing the Bahay Kubo - the National house in the Philippines!

And the calendar that was used before. It shows the tide, the patron saint of the day, the dates yet it was smaller compared of what we have now.

You can also notice the spanish spellings that were derived from the name of the days and weeks.

Upstairs, you can find the post and pre-war happenings here in Cebu!
There were displays of the engagement of USA in the Philippines, the World War 2 with the Japanese and the people who were hailed as heroes.

This is the flag of the Philippines, btw! Here's a fact, when placed horizontally, if the blue one would be placed on the top, the state is at peace and when the red is on the top it would mean war.

Also, the 3 stars sorrounding the sun represents the 3 largest island on the Philippines- Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and Cebu is on the Visayas :)

These are the letters that were made before. Most of the context of those composed letters were about what happened to their place during wars and sent them to a higher rank general.

What I like about it was their handwritten. It was on a classic cursive style!

The flag of the USA!
There were also part of the museum that recognizes a thomasite (teacher) that contributed and helped people in Bohol!

The photographs of the streets in Cebu before.
The comparison of it and now is very different!

The moneys during the World War II.

Our five peso before was in a form of a bill, today it is already in a coin with the first president on the Philippines on it.

The most interesting part I have seen on the museum!

Basically if you have that money on the Japanese times it's either nationalism or survival. And I really salute people who had that one!! Thankfully, today I don't have to choose between the two because that would really be hard.

Going outside, there is an open space which shows the displays of souvernirs which you can buy, Sarok festival and a group of farmers showing their harvest from parts in Cebu!

P.s. I don't know their names already but I'm glad I have aquainted with them.

Hehe, I forgot the name but this is used for bud-bud! A filipino delicacy made from rice.

And this one was a fruit that I also forgot and it's so light to hold but when weighed it was almost a kilo!!

And the Sarok Festival in Consolacion, Cebu! The elderly women shows how to weave things using bamboo strips and banana leaves used for hats.

There was also a live tattoo session held in one of the rooms in Museo Sugbo!

On the same room, there are displays of Bulols which is famous in Ifugao.

On the other room, there were a dispaly about media! Media happenings in Cebu, the old media, newspapers and old media equipments like tv, printer, etc.

I am overwhelmed from what I learned in Museo Sugbo! If you choose to go here this is along M. J. Cuenco Avenue, Cebu City!

Entrance Fee for Filipino if you're an adult is 30 php and for students, senior citizens and PWD is 10 php. For foreigners it is for 75 pesos!

Thank you for spending your time in reading my posts. I do appreaciate it! May God bless us all!!! ❤
