Hello 2020 by A.T.Myrie

Hello 2020, I was slightly drunk when I met you, but you can forgive a woman for meeting you turnt up and buzzed. Don’t hold it against me or the millions, or dare I say billions who greeted your arrival as or more inebriated than me. We celebrate your arrival with joy and gratefulness because every human knows, meeting you 2020 is not set in stone.

Frankly, we know, today much less tomorrow is not promised to anyone. We all know every second, minute, hour, day, month and year are gifts of life. And so the fact that I am still here to greet you 2020, is a gift and I don’t take it for granted.

And what will I do in and with 2020, you may be wondering. Or not, as you go on whether I do nothing or something great, right? But I want to go after my dreams in 2020 and not let fear hinder me. I know most people start the new year with resolutions up to wazoo and most never accomplish all or most of them. I’m trying to be a doer and not a talker in that regard. Because talk is cheap and action is no much more expensive.

So I won’t bore you with my list of resolutions or my plans for you 2020. Because whether big or small, you will know my truth from the things that I do and not what I say. And so I will just ask for your indulgence in letting me show you and not just tell you, and I hope at the end of 2020, when I meet 2021, God willing and all being well, you can tell her, I was great in 2020 and will only get greater going forward.

As it is only the second day of 2020, and I have been maintaining a nice buzz with wine coolers, I am going to sign off with a few lines I wrote for a song called ‘Stand Tall’:
Like Kofee say
Everyday is a blessing
And yes mi glad
Glad mi still living
Mi know mi God
Him can move mountains
And him keep mi life force going

And so I hope we all remember to always give thanks for our blessing and to live each day fully and without regret. And as we travel through 2020, let us do it with joy, swag, laughter, hope and faith. Blessings, peace and love!
