My first century egg! Yumm...

in #partiko6 years ago (edited)

I was happy to get the chance trying a century egg. Have you heard of century egg before? Although it is a specialty food in China, I’ve heard about it some more times. And also, although it’s not exactly 100 years old, it’s still old.

This photo I took on the Bangkok in a Chinese restaurant right before our flight towards Doha. And I was a bit surprised how relatively cheap it was. It’s addition to the main dish cost me about one euro. This was a real deal, and I was very happy with it.

These eggs are made through a process of taking the eggs in a mixture of clay, ash, salt, quicklime and rice hulls. The “aging” takes from several weeks to several months, but it is quite away from the 100 years’ point. The whole process gives the egg very distinctive flavor, a bit different from the traditional one. I cannot really describe how it tasted exactly, but was a very unique flavor. Definitely would try another one some day.

And what about you? Have you tried one?

Hi. I am part of a project to increase the number of Steem minnows (over 500 SP). We see you are really close and are wondering if you would like some support. All you have to do is make a post saying you are interested in growing your account and not powering down in the short term. We would prefer that you did not buy votes on the post, but then you will earn something anyway.

You can use the tag #TenKMinnows to show you are part of it. The aim is to get to 10,000 and we are stuck around 9,200 for now. This is a free service to make Steem better. Just ask if you have questions.
