Last week in Ligaya Garden

So much is happening, both here and out in the big world that we thought it worth doing a little catchup every Sunday and publish it on a Monday, Oz time.

At the moment, all the links point to our non Steemit blog Ligaya Garden but I'll be getting things running better on this platform before the week's out.

Last week in Ligaya Garden

-A slow week in the garden.

There's a lot of buds and blooms coming out, All the deciduous trees are swelling and ready to pop. Like the Dwarf Mulberry in the pic above.

Everything's growing just as it should be. Lots of Sun and frequent rain is kicking things along nicely. It certainly doesn't need any help from me at the moment, so I'm taking it easy.-I've been a bit concerned by the news from Hong Kong and have been researching modern social action starting with the Zapatistas in 1994 who wandered out from the jungle with a whole new way of protest. It's very interesting how the various movements have developed through Seattle, Genoa, PGA, the Occupy movement and now Extriction Rebellion. There's new language and tools for non violent action. Anyway, more of that later.

-We're itching to get the greenhouses. Their arrival will mark a rebuild of the aquaponics, if not the whole back yard and shed. Once that's underway, I can plumb a rainwater tank into the toilet and kitchen.

-On the topic of the shed, I found an amazing steel rack with wheels, on the roadside last week. That's been converted into a workbench and shelves for the shed. It's just waiting on some more wood to be completed. It makes shed access much easier.

-Grass Roots magazine accepted the new article I wrote on the aquaponics. That should be in the next edition. That's four articles we've had in that venerable Aussie magazine. Something to be proud of in my books!

-Only a couple of notable posts from yours truly this week:

Ligaya Gardening Tips #4 wood ash for slugs, snails and as a fertizer

Helping hands around Gawler #3 Grow Free Carts

Good news too- As I'm writing this, we heard that my niece has had a new baby! That's worth celebrating!
