Thai Photography Contest: Statues at the National Museum in Bangkok, รูปปั้นสูงมากที่พิพิธภัณฑ์สถานแห่งชาติ

This is my entry for #thaiphotocontest46 on statue photography. Several months ago,I had to go back to the National Museum in Bangkok twice in one week because I was puzzled by this statue.

His face and his body are very different from most statues I have ever seen from Buddhist temples. If he was not found in Thailand I would not believe that he was Asian artifact. He reminds me of statue from Egypt with elongated hat, big eyes, very high ridge nose & forehead and long torso. In fact he resembles one of those Egyptian figures on wall paintings and sculptures from Egypt! So I wonder if there was any connection between the Far Eastern culture and people from the Middle East over thousands of years ago. The age of the statue was only an estimation, it has not been carbon dated. He just does not look very Asian to me at all! But I may be wrong as I was not there when the statue was crafted!

หลายเดือนก่อนเราต้องวกกลับไป ถ่ายรูปที่ห้องแสดงรูปปั้นโบราณที่พิพิธภัณฑ์สถานแห่งชาติ เพราะเราแปลกใจกับรูปปั้นนี้มาก เราต้องกลับไปดูใหม่อีกรอบ และให้เวลากับการเดินชมนานขึ้น รูปปั้นนี้เป็นอะไรที่แปลกประหลาดจากรูปปั้นทั้งหมดในห้องนี้ หน้าตาเหมือนรูปปั้นที่มาจากอียิปต์ ลักษณะของศีรษะที่ยาวและสวมหมวกเหมือนรูปปั้นที่เคยเห็นที่พิพิธภัณฑ์ในอังกฤษ ตาโตเป้าตาลึก สันจมูกโด่งหน้าฝากสูง ลำตัวยาวและสูงเหมือนคนในรูปภาพและรูปปั้นที่มาจากอียิปต์ เราจึงเริ่มสงสัยว่าสมัยพันกว่าปีก่อน ทางเอเซียอาคเนย์เคยมีการติดต่อค้าขายกับคนโบราณจากตะวันออกกลางหรือเปล่า รูปปั้นนี้ไม่มีความเป็นคนเอเซีย หรือความเป็นคนขอมเลย บางทีรูปปั้นนี้อาจจะเก่ากว่าที่เราคิดก็ได้ เพราะไม่มีการคำนวณอายุของรูปปั้นโดยทางวิทยาศาสตร์ เรายังคงสงสัยเรื่องนี้ตลอดไป
