Flipboard got hacked?!
Flipboard is one of my favorite mobile app while commuting. It's a news aggregator app and I get many of my daily news through the app.
While checking my email today, the subject "Flipboard Security Notice" caught my eyes. I was informed through email that my information was potentially accessed through a security breach.
According to Flipboard, here is what happened,
Findings from the investigation indicate an unauthorized person accessed and potentially obtained copies of certain databases containing Flipboard user information between June 2, 2018 and March 23, 2019 and between April 21 - 22, 2019.
The databases involved may have contained your name, Flipboard username, cryptographically protected password and email address.
So it seems that the hackers managed to get hold of some users credentials. However, since Flipboard hashes users' passwords, the actual passwords were not exposed.
For me, I am logging in via my Facebook account, so I did not store any password with them. However, it is still important to deauthorize the app from Facebook and reauthorize it. This way a new token will be generated and the previous one stored with Flipboard will be invalidated. This is an extra precaution as Flipboard mentioned that they too have regenerated the tokens.

Oh dear, any incident of hacking. But I guess it is the norm nowadays. Today is this app, tomorrow is that site. Glad that your personal information were not compromised.
Indeed. Flipboard doesn't collect too much personal info in any case, which is a good thing
