[Parody] @grumpycat is a Bully, But Does This Cat Have a Feline Personality Disorder?

in #parody7 years ago (edited)

Disclaimer: This post serves as a semi-amusing and semi-serious look at the behavior of one @grumpycat here on Steem. While I believe @grumpycat's intentions appear to be in the right direction, the path to hell is paved with good intentions, as the saying goes. I am not claiming to diagnose a cat with a personality disorder, nor am I pretending to. A cat cannot simply be fingered as a sociopath/psychopath, let alone diagnosed on the fly by anyone -because if that were possible- guess what kind of cat would be heartlessly diagnosing every other cat with Anti-social Personality Disorders? And really, when was the last time you saw a cat being diagnosed anyways?

Clearly, @grumpycat is a Steem Bully, that is a 100% certainty based on the special kind of behavior exhibited by this pugly looking feline. Whenever a cat behaves or speaks in a manner where "the ends justify the means regardless of who gets hurt," this should always raise a cute little red flag.

When it involves the well-being or harm of other cats, the ends can only justify the means in the mind of a cat that is either lacking in emotional empathy (a basic feline internal quality that allows most cats to feel how their actions effect others, and to feel on some level what other cats are feeling in the moment), or a cat is desperate and has been left with no other options, and believes they have to do something. In the case of going after minnows on steem instead of targeting the bigger fish that have teeth, this suggests that @grumpycat is not only a cowardly lion, but probably lacking in the empathy department, and may have other traits as well that suggest a more serious feline personality disorder.

again, we cannot diagnose cats. I am merely highlighting the areas of this fat cat's personality that may be in disorder, and not suggesting that this reflects in any way the account owner's personality.

When it comes to extreme personality disorders, I love this comparison:

  • a Narcissist may run you over with their car, and then be furious with you for damaging their car. They might go as far as threatening to sue you for damages.
  • a Sociopath may run you over with their car, and laugh while doing it. They might laugh about it later when reminded of the incident.
  • a Psychopath may run you over with their car, then reverse backwards to run you over again to make sure they finished the job.

It's not so cut and dry in real life, and there is always debate on what differences (if any) exist between a sociopath and psychopath when it comes to cats, aside from how high they rate on the kitty psychopathy checklist. Some argue the terms should not even be used at all, but instead be placed on a spectrum of feline anti-social personality disorder. There are after all, some cats who rate very high on the kitty psychopathy checklist, yet are very pro-social and devote their time to helping others. There is nothing cut and dry on the topic of psycho kittens. Besides, cats don't drive cars. Duh!

Knowing that we are diving into a grey area, here is the standard checklist of traits that the worst of the feline personality disorders have in common, and a cat being tested will be given a 0, 1 or 2 rating based on how present this trait is. This can only be done by a qualified expert psychatiatrist, not just any cat on a whim can actually diagnose someone, for obvious reasons. Instead, I ask that you be the judge. Are we dealing with a messed up kitty?

1. Does @grumpycat have "excess glibness" or superficial charm?

No way of really testing that here, but based on their lazy kitten writing style I'd say probably not.

2. Does @grumpycat have a grandiose sense of self-worth?

based on this cats destructive "knight in shining fur" attitude and behavior, along with upvoting their own garbage posts instead of contributing to the system in a meaningful way (example), I would say yes. I'm not against self-upvoting, but in this case @grumpycat is being a hypocat on a blatant level by downvoting minnows on a whim (it's literally on a whim and inconsistently done for breaking "@grumpycat's" rules). This trait would be further proven if @grumpycat resteems this post, unaware that these traits are not something to be proud of in cat society.

3. Does @grumpycat have an excess need for stimulation or proneness to boredom?

I would argue that pushing the ethical boundaries by attacking minnows for doing nothing wrong can qualify here as an excess need for stimulation. Given the severity of this heartless method of making their point, there must be some sense of satisfaction that @grumpycat gets from this behavior that cannot be satisfied in downvoting @sneaky-ninja, or whatever other account they don't like, or by just playing with a ball of yarn. I might even go as far as to say that @grumpycat's bidbot crusade is a red-herring to have an excuse to be a bully on Steem. It certainly appears this way given the crude and sometimes kitten-like language, and their aggressive "I'm going to pick on minnows much smaller than me because they don't fight back" choices. This is a classic example of a cat that is abusing and misusing one's steem power. to be fair, this is the risk we take participating actively on Steem.

4. Is @grumpycat a pathological liar?

Yes, @grumpycat has said in the past they would start downvoting certain people on x date if bidbots didn't comply to @grumpycats rules, and then @grumpycat chose to break their own promise on a whim and started downvoting early, without any pressing need to do so. This "catch others off guard for self-satisfaction" behavior ties into previous traits, where they become bored or restless with their own boundaries, and cross them to satisfy their need for stimulation, and also their belief that they or their agendas are more important than the well-being of other cats who they claim to be looking out for, but are actually not.

5. Is @grumpycat conning or manipulative?

While I see no evidence of charm, or the ability to pull others in to becoming a lackey for @grumpycat, @grumpycat is certainly behaving as though they should be able to manipulate others. Whether they are successful in this area in real life I can't say, but they have failed to manipulate on Steem and may be lashing out at minnows for not being "obeyed" by the whales.

6. Does @grumpycat display a lack of remorse or guilt?

Without any doubt, yes.

7. Does @grumpycat have a "shallow affect"?

(No emotional response when one is expected)
Can't really discern that here, but based on their own cold/Lack of reaction to minnows cries who've been wrongly targeted, I can't say no to this question.

8. Is @grumpycat callous, or does @grumpycat lack empathy?

yes.

9. Does @grumpycat have a "parasitic lifestyle"?

Based on the lack of any positive contribution or hard work on this platform (that I can see), It's a yes to this question. @grumpycat is a twisted and parasitic kitty.

10. Does @grumpycat have poor behavioral controls?

As discussed previously, @grumpycat is inconsistent with their own rules and enforcement of said rules, and refuses to abide by social standards (as they appear not to be able to).

11. Does @grumpycat have a history of promiscuous sexual behavior?

lol. That cat has been spreading wild oats across the internet. that face is everywhere.

12. Does @grumpycat have a history of early behavioral problems?

@grumpycat has always been a grumpy cat.

13. Does @grumpycat lack realistic long-term goals?

@grumpycat has short term goals, but they are poorly implemented into action.

14. Is @grumpycat overly impulsive?

Based on what I've seen, @ grumpycat seems to have weak impulse control, worsened by a lack of emotional empathy.

15. Does @grumpycat have a high level of irresponsibility?

Being the bully that @grumpycat is by targeting minnows in a self-righteous manner without any cares, I'd have to say yes.

16. Does @grumpycat fail to accept responsibility for their own actions?

This crazy kitten definitely does not understand the damage they are causing, so therefore yes.

17. Has @grumpycat had many short-term "marital" relationships?

No, cats don't get married.

18. Does @grumpycat have a history of juvenile delinquency?

yes.

19. Has @grumpycat ever experienced a "revocation of conditional release"?

Cat's don't go to jail for their crimes.

20. Does @grumpycat display "criminal versatility"?

So far yes, but not enough evidence to say for certain.

While I can't say if @grumpycat is a full-blown psychopathic kitty, this feline felon is definitely scoring high in many areas, but you be the judge. Based on their disconnect with reality, I believe @grumpycat will never be able to conform to an ethical code of behavior, and will need to be taken out by the community.
