RE: ‘Nooooooooooo!’ and other idiotic reactions to the Massachusetts millionaire tax court ruling

....seems like every time you turn around they want a "special" tax for something. Here they let the roads slide for years then asked for a tax to fix the roads, the voters gave it to them. The next year they refused to mow the parks but once every couple weeks or do any maintenance unless the voters gave them a tax for parks, so the voters did, then they asked for a tax to buy technology upgrades for the schools, the voters gave it to them then they announced the opening of two new schools, one for the gentrification crowd downtown who don't want to send their kids into the low income neighborhood schools surrounding them and one for the Hispanic neighborhood so their high school kids wouldn't have to trek across town to go to school. We've also had special library taxes and taxes for upgrades to mass transit. It never ends.

Sounds like you live in an up and coming spot. In your case though the voters voted to increase their own taxes, in this case they were trying to get voters to increase other people's taxes but not their own.

You know I really thought this gentrification was turning things around but this summer taking the grand kids to the splash pad across the street and listening to some of those parents talk I just want to run. This world is in for a whole lot of hurt listening to the way they talk around and to their kids, it appalling. One day I had to get up and tell the kids it was time to go. Last year was the first year for the splash pad but it never seemed this bad. I was rather inspired for the most part, young couples taking their kids there, I had hopes of a turnaround. Within a couple years investing some money into this place could bring somewhere between double to triple what I paid for it but now I am left wondering should I take the high end offer of all these investors or still wait and see.

It's a sellers market right now that's for sure. What were the parents saying that was disturbing?

Every sentence had at least a expletive in it, some had even more then that. What is chilling is when they tell their kids I told you to sit you mother f'er ass down or I told your ass to quit f'ing doing that, or hey n'ger get your ass back over here. When they are sitting around a picnic table next to you having conversations full of expletives they actually think that makes them sound intelligent evidently. They were sitting at a picnic table in front of me, which was also in the direction of the splash pad, a few minutes after they sat down I was looking at them in utter disbelief, then one of them looked my way and seen that look on my face, I could tell by the look on her face she was going to load me up with what you looking at bitch type of comment when I dodged that bullet by looking at the splash pad real quick like I was concerned about something over there.

Oh yeah, time to sell.
