EIFFEL TOWER- A FEW FACTS

This came up in a conversation the other day when I mentioned that every time I have been to Paris someone is painting the tower. Thought I would check up a few facts.
It is painted once every seven years and it takes 15 months to complete the job. Twenty five painters using only brushes and sixty tons of paint. the paint protects the metal.
On a hot day the metal expands up to 15 inches making the tower grow. The original plan was for Barcelona to have the tower but they rejected it. Paris took it as they were having the World Fair and was planned to only stand for 20 years. During WW1 it helped with communications. The towers transmitter helped jam German communications.
