Parenting is a lifetime profession
Parenting in all around the world is such a challenging task for all parents, be it biological or not. It is said to be the noblest of all professions because being a parent is a course not offered in any universities. You are on your own from the moment you conceived your child. It is a shared and mutual responsibility of both parents to raise the child properly. They must be united in providing only the best for their children no matter what.
As a mother of two wonderful ladies (13 & 3 y/o), I admit that I have been frustrated a lot of times already. There were times that I feel like I'm a failure, that I'm not good enough, that I can't give them the best that they deserved, and the list could go on and on.
Why do I feel this way? What can I do about it? Well, to tell you honestly, whenever I'm down into these pity party, I just lie down and think about those happy days with them. Then a smile will curve on my lips and my mother instincts turned on. My brain cells are working normally again. Thank God :-)
I start to recall the wonderful times we have....the things that we did together...those happy memories we have shared and the ever present bonding time we have.
Parenting these ladies is such a challenge & most often than not, a struggle because of their 10-year age gap.
Both have unique qualities that I love and both of them are my favorites. I love them equally.
There's not a time that I have favored one after the other and vice versa. It is indeed a struggle for me to adjust or adapt my parenting method to each of them though.
I need to make sure that I am doing everything right to both of them. I need to spend quality time with them. Even with my super mom. We're a lot happier anyway if we have our nanay (mother) with us.
So let us not take our parents for granted. You're so blessed if you still have your both parents with you. Spend some quality time with them. Even your children too, love them unconditionally.
Finally, as parents, biological or not, single parent or not, let us not get tired of being a parent to our children. They are blessings from God & one way of expressing our heartfelt gratitude to the Giver is that by taking care of them & guiding them in achieving their goals in life. we may have had some mistakes in the past but let's not dwell on it. Let's just move on & start making things right. Let us make it a habit to spend quality time with them. God bless us all :-)
