Dyspraxia-The Hidden Disability
What is dyspraxia
Dyspraxia, is also known as Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) and is a lifelong disorder in both children and adults. It effects a person's fine and/or gross motor coordination and has similarities to the effects of cerebral palsy and strokes. A person with Dyspraxia may perform less well in everyday activities than expected for there age.
In the past terms like "minimal brain damage" or "clumsy child syndrome" where often used as a diagnosis although these where soon replaced with DCD.
Individuals with dyspraxia often have language problems, and sometimes a degree of difficulty with thought and perception.
what causes dyspraxia
It is belived that DCD is caused by a persons brain not being able to cleary send messages to to the parts of the body that they need to move, for eg: picking up a cup may seem slow and clumsy.
It is still not understood why a person is born this way but the condition is more likely in premature babies or thoose born with low weight and babies that have been subject to drink and drugs while in the womb.
Symptoms of Dyspraxia

There are i'm sure many more symptoms that could effect a person and people may only experience theses at different levels.
