Parenting Hacks - PART VI: Hotels

I did a previous post on traveling with little ones, this time I am doing the very best of the internets parenting...

HOTEL HACKS

Problem: the hotel you booked doesn’t have a tub to bathe the baby! Hack: Get a cheap blow up tub like this one from a local Target or Walmart! Problem solved. Best part, you can leave it behind when you leave since it was cheap! Have a toddler? Place a towel on the floor to avoid slipping and bathe them in the shower.

Childproof any room with basic painters tape. You can also use bandaids on outlets to prevent accidents!

Worried about small children rolling from their bed? Get a pool noodle and position under the sheets.

Got a stinky diaper? Use the ice bucket liner to contain the smell in the room.

Worried young ones will be up with the sun? If you have curtains that don’t close all the way, get a hair clip or chip clip at the hotel store to keep it closed (and get you some extra zzzz’s.

Want an easy and quick breakfast for the kids? Pack instant oatmeal and use the coffee maker to boil water! Voila!

Instead of packing and traveling with bulky items like a pack and play car seat or stroller, check with the hotel concierge before you arrive about local rentals! Some hotels have these items at no extra cost too!

Traveling with older kids? Avoid fights over the outlets by bringing a power strip (only $5-$6) so everyone’s electronics can be charged at once.

Take advantage of the hotel breakfast or buffet. Often times they have foods like boxes of cereal, saltine crackers and fruit like bananas or apples as well as water bottles you can take with you for your day out, avoiding having to stop for expensive snacks when a kid gets hungry while touring the sights.
