A srong woody climber with compound leaves having small bright green, toothed leaflets. The flowers are attractive, numerous and have a scent like vanilla.

Reasonably common growing over trees on the lowland ridges to 500m, e.g. Malabar, Mt Eliza, Saddle.

The species is found in Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, and the Lesser Sunda Islands. This subspecies is also found in New Caledonia and Vanuata. The genus has 6 species in Australia, Malesia and New Caledonia.
