I've been watching and reading about investing quite a bit lately and one video I was watching provided a great insight into just how hard it is to hold through a bear market.

Chart 1

For instance, if you saw this chart would this be something you were interested in investing in?

There is a clear accumulation period with prices holding pretty steady with a break out about 2/3s the way through the chart with a peak and pullback of about 50%.

Would you feel confident buying here when the short term trend is clearly in the downward direction trying to catch the falling knife?

It does appear to bounce off support, but will it hold?

Chart 2

You see when you can see the entire chart it makes it so easy to say, "Why didn't I invest more at the bottom?".

It was so clear that x price is the bottom and I should have bought so much more than.

If you cut the chart off at the bottom like I did in Chart 2 would you still be confident in your buy price or would you assume it's going to keep going down possibly to 0 especially in crypto where there is no real good way to put a value on a crypto project?

Now you're able to see Chart 1 in the yellow circle and Chart 2 in the green circle.

How do you feel about at any point in Chart 1?

No matter if you bought the top in Chart 1 or bought during accumulation you'd still be in the green at any price in Chart 2, but if you bought the top in Chart 1 your $1000 investment would now be worth only $500.

Now you can see that the chart is Ethereum run the same thought process about investing in Chart 1.

It's an interesting thought process to go through when considering at what point do you take profit. Hindsight is always 20/20, but when an investment keeps going up it's easy to say well it will keep going up and then when it starts to lose value it's easy to say "It's just a pullback in a bull market".

Steem Prices

The tricky question is Steem going to 0 or is now the time to be accumulating as much Steem as possible. I can't say what the future holds, but I can guarantee 5 years from now it will be easy to see what the answer is.
