Born in Dortmund in 1953, he studied at the Hamburg Academy of Art in the early seventies. After a stay in Florence, he settled in Berlin in 1978 and founded a punk music group called the Grugas and recorded his first album, a single called Luxus, with Christine Hahn and Eric Mitchel.
