Purple/Black Carrots. Yes REALLY!
Hey everyone, well what can I say, this is not a photoshop pic, this really is a Carrot, purple in all its glory, or is it black? I planted a few rows of these amazing multicoloured heirloom carrots a few months ago and they are just about ready to harvest.
I picked one of these a few days ago. I can say with honesty this is probably the nicest Carrot I have ever tasted. Grown in my garden, no pesticides or rubbish and heirloom just the way nature intended.
I buy all my vegetable seeds on www.livingseeds.co.za which are fantastic and world renown for their quality heirloom vegetables. I can't wait for the white/black/orange and others to be ready. I plan to cook with them use them in salads too but my original idea was for juicing purposes, Just imagine based on this amazing colour what the juice will look like? Can't wait, it literally does not get healthier than this!
In the foreground my mixed gourmet loose leaf lettuce and in the back drop the multicoloured carrots. Amazing that their leaves are all the same colour (green) but the carrots all different!!
I trust you have an amazing weekend and with BTC looking to hit 9 k why not? My guess is by Sunday/Monday it will surpass 9k any bets?

What! This is crazy. I did not now that carrots could be purple.
And you say it tastes just the same, not a beetish taste?
And these have not been genetically modified or anything like that?
That is a cool thing to have, such a peculiar vegetable.
The whole garden looks magnificent, by the way.
True story brother it tastes like nothing but a pure and good carrot albeit looking like the colour of a beet. It is actually heirloom carrots are all and used to be this way till orange ones and only orange were commercialized. Thanks for the comment and love. Cheer$;)

It's funny because we have things like passion fruit, which are usually yellow, but they also can be found in purple. We don't see them very often, but once in a while you find in the market someone selling purple passion fruits.
Ye man its all about what was commercially viable I think we all need to get back to basics and how it used to be.. Fruits and veggies all come in many colours we do not even know of because the establishment forced upon us what was commercially viable. Purple babana's Potatoes, Yellow Brinjals etc all exist I am going to plant many of the heirloom stuff soon ;lP
