Yesterday's Cinema

in #palnet5 years ago (edited)

In my usual walks in the city of Caracas I have begun to develop a visual narrative very different from what I was accustomed to in my upbringing town, the change of natural landscapes, artisans, and colonial streets for an immense city where concrete abounds in the streets.

A few months ago I was in a sports center accompanying a friend in a basketball game, suddenly the desire to go to urinate made me move around the site in search of a bathroom, in the same sports center there is an auditorium that served as a grade act for students in the last year of high school, and just before arriving at the bathroom I found an old movie machine, the Century brand projector was like a museum piece at the entrance to the Auditorium, when I asked a guard why it was there, he could not answer, so I deduce that at some point the auditorium was a cinema in the past and some later manager of the site decided to leave the old projector as a nice memory of the past.

It's interesting how about 80 years ago that projector was the newest invention in the world, since the first film productions people hallucinated with the first photos in succession that determined revolutions per second 24 frames per second to be exact, gave the illusion of movement.

I am writing this publication from a smart phone, and the magic of cinema had its moment, today's children will never know the excitement of going to the movies to see a movie, I could also make a critique would be how the cinema has been handled because much of the production of Hollywood is literally garbage, cinema for a long time was just a contraption, something purely for entertainment, however, many filmmakers were dedicated to creating pieces of art that endure over time.
