Oh Martina...these past two photographic birthday posts of yours from South Tirol has brought back a flood of beautiful memories to me of my time there (two birthdays) fifty years ago... Thank you.
As you know, I was a lucky military recruit who fortunately was assigned to a NATO partnership there in Tirol, rather than Viet Nam for my first assignment with the US Army...much to my surprise.
Naturno is only about twenty to thirty clicks from the old mountain hide-a-way I mostly spent time at (coming and going for temporary assignments)
You've sparked the desire in me to dig out my old snapshots of the region to post here as well, when I get my scanner to work or buy a new one :>)

Angryman is sweet again :) I'm glad that I brought up those memories. You were indeed lucky to be assigned to such region. How long were you in army? I mean in general, not in Tyrol as I understand you had 2 years assignment there :)
You should maybe return to the region and see how it changed. It could be interesting to compare it to 50 years ago. Oh, boy, that's long time ago :)

Yes, I was based in the Tyrol region for about two years - coming and going at times on escort and training missions.
I have often thought of returning over the years, but life takes turns that prevent us from seemingly doing what we want to do. My love for Europe was such that I considered living there after I got out of the military, but my love for a girl back home lured me back to the States...
I probably should have just gone home to pick her up and fly us both back to Europe.
