Dozens of Palestinians injured in clash with Israel

The clashes between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian protesters in the West Bank and Gaza Strip on Friday (23/2) left 32 Palestinians injured, medics said.

Protests in the Palestinian territories have been taking place every Friday since US President Donald Trump on December 6 has recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and plans to move the US Embassy to the city.

Clashes erupted after Friday prayers, in line with the calls of the government and Palestinian factions, including the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and the Fatah Party, the head of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society in the West Bank said 16 Palestinians were shot and wounded during clashes with Israeli troops in Jericho (Ariha), Nablus and Ramallah towns, Xinhua reported.

In the Gaza Strip, Ashraf Al-Qedra Health Ministry spokesman said 16 Palestinians were shot and wounded during clashes with Israeli troops near the border area between the eastern part of the Gaza Strip and Israel.

On Friday morning, hundreds of Palestinians demonstrated in Gaza City to support Jerusalem and challenge Trump's policies toward the Palestinian issue and oppose Israeli policies against the Palestinian people in the Palestinian territories.

Protesters waved Palestinian flags and shouted anti-Israel and anti-US slogans.

Ismail Radwan, a senior Hamas leader, told participants of the open meeting that Palestinian land and Jerusalem for the Palestinian people "and this is the promise of God".
