Who is Ali Jahangir Siddiqui? New US Ambassador to Pakistan
Ali Jahangir Siddiqui is the son of a famous businessman and philanthropist Jahangir Siddiqui who is the founder of JS group of companies. Ali Jahangir is primarily a special assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan as a State Minister. He is the mastermind behind all the long-term economic policies and economic decisions for the economic development in Pakistan.
Education and Career
Ali had his initial education from the top schools in Pakistan and got his A-Levels from Karachi and received his BA degree in Economics from Cornell University in New York. After getting his education in economics and finance he founded JS Bank in 2006 by the acquisition of Pakistan operations of American Express Bank, he served as the chairman of JS Bank which has the presence in 161 cities with 323 branches all over Pakistan. He also founded JS Private Equity Management (JSPE Management) and brought it to Pakistan’s largest domestic private equity asset management firm. He also served as the top executives in JS Group of Companies. He moved to Pakistan in 2002, before that he served as a director for Crosby Capital which is the largest equity asset management firm on the behalf of Korean & Hong Kong Government.
Entrepreneurship
Ali Jahangir Siddiqui has also invested in many other projects other than JS group of companies and helped build the successful business in different sectors. His entrepreneurial partnerships include:
- Arabian Gulf Steel (a steel producer in the United Arab Emirates)
- Jura Energy (an upstream energy company in Pakistan)
- RAK Ghani Glass (the largest pharmaceutical glass producer in the Middle East)
State Minister
In August 2017 Ali Jahangir Siddiqui was appointed as a special assistant to the prime minister of Pakistan Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and received the status of State Minister. Before his appointment as a state minister, he served as an honorary CEO of Mahvash and Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation (MJSF). The main goal of this non-government organization was to issue grants for the education, healthcare, and social enterprise sectors. MJSF also worked in partnership with UN agencies for disaster management in Pakistan.Public Sector Appointments

Serving US Ambassador
