Wishing all the Pakistanis on Steemit a very happy birthday. May you prosper forever and live a happy life.

For those who are thinking what is the big deal about this post, and what is so great about an Indian wishing Pakistanis on their Independence Day - India and Pakistan though share a common heritage and culture and are neighbors with thousands of kilometers long shared border. Pakistan was born out of India when the British colonizers left India in 1947 and partitioned the country into a Muslim majority Islamic country Pakistan & generally Hindu majority but secular country India. So it is obvious that both countries have lot in common like the food they eat, the languages they speak, the dress they wear, & the challenges they face etc. Yet, there is a deep rooted animosity between us, the seeds of which were sown in during the partition in 1947 itself over the differences related to the control over the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

Since then both countries have fought 4 major wars including in 1947, 1965, 1971, and 1999. And there have been multiple wars still being fought at many different levels by the rulers of both the countries.

This is my personal observation and opinion that majority of the people on both sides of the border want peace but the rulers and powerful people on both sides with vested interests don't want this to happen. They want to maintain the status quo and try to control their people by projecting the other country and its people as enemy and projecting themsleves as their only saviour.

I have personally met and talked to many pakistanis and the only thing i've got from there is the love and reciprocation of respect and same has been the case when I read the interviews of famous Pakistani celebrities who have to India.

So on the occasion of Pakistan's Independence Day today and the eve of Indian Independence Day I wish that both countries get freedom from this regressive thinking and think of the future of our coming generations because wars and nuclear bombs won't solve the problems and hunger and poverty in our countries.

So dear Pakistani friends, here's wishing you a very happy birthday. Hope you convey the message that people across the border in India wish you prosperity and happiness.
