Canadian-American Family Held Hostage by Taliban Rescued by Pakistan Army
For more than five years, Joshua Boyle and his family was kept as captives by Taliban in Afghanistan. His family includes his wife and three children, all of whom were born in captivity. One child was killed as infant as well.
But merely within 48 hours of crossing Pak-Afghan border, Pakistani Army rescued the whole family from the hostage of terrorists. The whole US and NATO army could not do that in more than 5 years.
The family flew to Canada from Islamabad, the Pakistani capital. The role of Pakistani Army has been applauded internationally. Here's a video of Joshua Boyle's talk after the big release.
The whole scenario raises some questions though.
- Is Pakistani Military a hero but made a villain by international media?
- Is Pakistan doing more than its but in fight against terrorism but not being duly appreciated?
- Are American and NATO troops unable to match Pakistan Army's commitment?
- Is US fighting a lost war with flawed policies?
The questions are worth thinking about. Pakistan is not a terrorism-producing country but a terrorism-affected country, fighting with all its might and sacrificing thousands of lives.
