2022 has welcomed us in the worst way possible.
Murree, a vacation spot in Pakistan, where hundred of thousands tourists visit each year in winters to enjoy snow and mountains, became the final resting station for 19 people as they lost their lives in masses.
The tourists were stuck in a mass traffic jam. The government is to be blamed here, as only 5000 cars can be accomodated in Muree yet the administration allowed more than 100,000 vehicles in the city. This resulted in a mass traffic jam which in turn resulted in lack of oxygen and deaths.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that the government had called army and civil armed forces for emergency rescue operations for "nearly a thousand" vehicles still stranded.
All roads to Murree will be closed for tourists and only open for people providing aid to those still stranded, the minister added.
Complete families were found dead in their cars. According to the reports, they died due to carbon monoxide poisoning as they left their car heaters on with no passage of ventilation as the snow had covered their cars completely.

All of this obviously happened due to the unorganized work of the administration and the government. If you let 100,000 vehicles in a place where only 5,000 can come things like these are meant to happen.
Alot of families are still stuck in Murree. If you are reading this please pray for them. I am also looking forward to do something for them, as someone who has always been on the front line in these sort of things.
