• La tijereta es un pájaro que llama la atencion por su larguísima cola compuesta por seis pares de plumas, siendo las más largas las laterales, que son las que le dan la forma característica. Posa en sitios visibles como alambrados, ramas o cardos, observa a los insectos y sale a capturarlos. Es muy agresiva con otras especies e, incluso, con aves de mayor tamaño, como caranchos y chimangos, a los que persigue y ataca con insistencia. Nidifica en nuestro país y migra al norte en la época invernal. A menudo en parejas. Se alimenta al vuelo atrapando insectos ,como abejas , moscas , mosquitos , chicharras. También gusta de tucuras , termitas y hormigas y algunos frutos. Es muy defensora de su nido espantando a los intrusos a picotones al vuelo incluso a los caranchos.
