Regarding the Oscars - Rant (but a short one)
Regarding the Oscars...
I like performers because they are good at performing.
I like football players because they are good at football.
I like politicians - Oh wait, I don't. Which is why I didn't watch the Oscars, when I want entertainment, that is what I want. Not "performers' views and opinions on a topic I am bombarded with all of the time, and I have a responsibility to keep up on.

Yup, I go so far as to avoid meeting people who create the media I enjoy. What if I don't like them? I wouldn't want to ruin the little media that I do enjoy.

Fact. And these days, everyone seems to think they are experts on everybody's business... other than their own. I didn't watch, either.
Experts on everybody's business. I like that. I will probably steal it and use it at some point. :)
How can they tell us how to live when they live in a fantasy world we pay for? Hollyfools!
I am rebranding celebs as "performers". So, we stop acting like they should have money, power, and influence, for being modern day Jesters.
By Jove that's an excelent idea.

Perhaps, but it isn't all pointed at current USA government politics, which I get plenty of.
