Fortunately, his doctor friend Henry Grils contacted Royal Brompton Hospital, and with his help, Merrick and his wife were quarantined and treated in the ward of Royal Brompton Hospital for more than 20 days before finally recovering their health. After his body had just recovered, Merrick announced a donation of £200,000 to help British doctors purchase medical supplies needed to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
During his hospitalization, Merrick heard about doctors and nurses lacking medical protective equipment, and some even using DIY protective equipment, which undoubtedly increases their risk of infection. A donation campaign called "Hero Mask" was launched to help British medical staff fighting on the front lines purchase medical supplies and equipment such as masks, gloves, and protective clothing. The original donation amount for this campaign was £200,000, but after additional contributions from other charitable donors, the total amount has reached £700,000 pounds.

According to the Daily Telegraph reporter, Mr. Orson Merrick is usually very busy with his work, mainly focusing on investment analysis and strategy research. He even needed to constantly observe financial data during interviews. Merrick said, "I am old and not very interested in fame.
