MEDIBLOC: Your medical history available when you need it most

In good time, blockchain technology has reached the field of health, and does so in an extraordinary way in one of the most important operational fields of medicine, as is "the medical history of patients".

In all the medical service institutions of the world, there is a dusty room, which nevertheless always has movement, because the requests for information coming from that room are normal, the room called "medical histories"..

In that room there is a pile of papers, analysis results, medical prescriptions, paper treatments that come out of there at the request of a treating doctor, who wants to read the medical history of a patient. But what happens if a document is lost? What happens if the information is needed by the patient and not a doctor? What happens if someone not authorized reads your confidential information?.

Then we can detect some problems here:

  • A lot of paper: In the "medical histories" rooms, the number of paper that enters is increasing, which causes having larger rooms or files.
  • Risk of loss of information: The medical history of a patient is very important, but as the number of papers entering the "medical histories" room is increasing, it can fall to the ground, become confused with a folder, etc..
  • A patient does not have access: in most hospitals around the world, the stored information can only be requested by a doctor treating the patient, and who works in that hospital. So the patient has his medical record "kidnapped".
  • Vulnerability: the information can be seen by anyone entering the room where the information is located, whether or not authorized to be there. Whereby the patient is exposed to their medical privacy can be revealed by a third party.
  • Centralization: some doctors try to solve the issue of the amount of paper, with applications or local computer programs, which are vulnerable to computer attacks, viruses, server damage or PC. In addition, the information is not yet available to the patient, even to the doctor if he is in a place removed from his office.

MediBloc is the Solution

MediBloc is a comprehensive platform based on blockchain to store and transfer medical records in a reliable and safe way.

MediBloc is designed to be a vital tool in decision making thanks to the reference of the patient's medical history, it is a platform thought by doctors who know what this information is, how it should be structured, and above all that they understand how important it is for patients to know, dispose and manage this information.

MediBloc has great important features like:

  • No more paper: all the information is digital, so the saving in infrastructure and space is from heaven to earth.
  • Information security: because it is based on blockchain the data is backed up in the different nodes of the platform.
  • Total access of information for patients: the owner and administrator of the medical history is the patient, it is the patient who decides who can see your information.
  • Invulnerability: The platform has encryption means that make medibloc a safe and reliable tool.
  • Decentralized: Taking advantage of one of the main characteristics of the blockchain that decentralization, MediBloc allows the information to be secure, making computer attacks more difficult, and also allowing the availability of information in any place where the person is.

How does it work:

The platform MediBloc has a very simple structure, but at the same time very robust, operational and reliable, making use of three important layers:

  • MediBloc Core: is the most important layer of the platform, therefore the security and encryption of the information is of a high level. The private keys, and the accesses granted by the user are also saved here.
  • MediBloc service: It is a Gateway layer that provides the interaction between the application layer and the core layer. Validating in it identity and requests for information.
  • MediBloc application: in this layer users interact with the platform, through the application MediBloc and even with applications developed by third parties that use APIs and SDKs of MediBloc.

Forms of Interaction:

With MediBloc you can interact in three different ways: as a general user, as a healthcare provider and as a researcher. These last two must demonstrate their credentials that accredit him as such.

TOKEN:

MEDI TOKEN (MED), as MediBloc before launching its own blockchain was using Qtum, it started with the use of MED, then with the use of its own blockchain changed to the use of the MEDX token, with a lot of transparency and equity. It also handles the use of an internal token, to reward and give value to the users that interact within the platform with which the Medi Point (MP) is used..

CONCLUSION (Personal Testimony)

By sharing this personal testimony you can see the positive impact of MediBloc for the lives of patients, health providers and even doctors.

Seven years ago, I became seriously ill with malaria, almost dying because I did not have a diagnosis promptly. However, when they were diagnosed, they sent me to take the treatment for the case and I quickly improved.

The suffering

The big problem after my recovery is that this disease repeated me 7 times, if 7 times in less than a year. This disease attacks the liver causing many health problems, discomfort, weakness, weight loss. With the discomforts in my body I recognized when it was a new event or attack of the disease.

The first two times I went to the same clinic, they sent me the conventional treatment (I complied) and really improved, until practically the following month I suffered another attack.

It was when I looked for a specialist in malaria, first in my region, and then nationally, I made a trip of more than 8 hours to go see a doctor director of the malaria unit in my country.

The truth is that during this problem, I myself had to put together a folder (And take 5 copies) with my medical history for this disease, the days of discomfort, the different treatments, the different doctors, with each episode or attack of the disease the folder got bigger, and the copies too. Each doctor kept a copy. A doctor specializing in epidemiology said that my case and the information I provided him was a candidate for his next PhD work (I really do not know if he used my information). Thank God I am healthy today and I have not had an episode of the disease.

The Point:

Everything that would have benefited a platform like MediBloc

1.- Time and Money: Spend lots of money on copies, folders, materials, treatments, transportation, copies of documents. Worse, I lost a lot of time, especially in the first episodes of the disease. I had to remember the information, I did not have it organized, among other things.

2.- Faster recovery: Many times they gave me the basic treatment, because the doctors did not trust the spoken information I gave them, it was after I presented the "written" record of all the treatments that had been given to me. given, that's when they modified my treatment trying to improve.

3.- Help the doctors: I know that my case was not common in my country. All the doctors were surprised and only seeing the history of exams and treatments, only there was that they believed me and caught their attention.

4.- I would have earned money and also helped the researchers: Because it is a unique case, by making all my medical history digitally available, many researchers would have been interested in reading (like the doctor who wanted to use it in their work of doctorate). The truth is that my wife threw the last folder I had left in the trash, in a day of general cleaning in our house.

For these reasons, I believe that MediBloc comes to benefit everyone in one of the most important aspects for any person, health.
