      EXT. STREET HAMILTON - DAY

Boston and Curtis walk towards Stokers'.

                          BOSTON
                He seems cool.

                          CURTIS
                Is he for real though?

                          BOSTON
I Googled him. He had a song on the
                Billboard Charts. That's good, isn't
                it?

      Curtis reluctantly nods yes.

                          BOSTON (CONT'D)
                But, that's about it.
                     (Beat)
Jake must know something. I'll ask
                him.

                          CURTIS
And why is he staying in the flop
                above the bar?

                          BOSTON
                I don't know.

                          CURTIS
Well, most has-beens aren't who they
say they are or know who they say
                they know.

                          BOSTON
That sucks. I'm hoping he can help.

      They near Stokers'.

                          BOSTON
                I'm dying for a beer!
                     (Beat)
                You're buying.

                          CURTIS
                I don't think so.

      They enter the bar.

INT. STOKERS' BACK ROOM - CONTINUOUS

Boston and Curtis enter. Charlie's at bar.

                          BOSTON
                There he is, with Jake.

Curtis is breathless. Jake waves them over.

                          JAKE
I hear you two have already met?

Charlie turns, sees Boston and Curtis. Charlie is shocked.

                          CHARLIE
                Hi Boston.

                          BOSTON
                Charlie, my friend and Manager,
                Curtis.

Charlie and Curtis shake hands. Charlie smiles, makes direct
      eye contact.

                          CHARLIE
                Hi. Nice meeting you.

Curtis nods nervously, silence. Boston senses an uneasiness,
      elbows Curtis.

                          BOSTON
                     (To Curtis)
Relax. He's only a rock star.

Curtis forces a nervous smile. Charlie's also uncomfortable.

                          CHARLIE
                     (To Curtis)
                Not true.

                          JAKE
                     (To Curtis)
Don't you believe him. I have his
                albums to prove it!

      Awkward silence.

                          CHARLIE
Jake was just saying you have a show
                tonight?

                          BOSTON
                You coming?

                          CHARLIE
                I can do.
                     (Beat)
Listening through the floor isn't all
                that great.

      The tension heightens, uncomfortable silence.

                          CHARLIE
Look. I have to split. Good meeting
                you Curtis.
                     (To Boston)
                We can talk more later.
                     (To Jake)
We can finish up when I get back?

                          JAKE
                For sure!

                          CHARLIE
                Take care guys!

      Charlie exits.

                          JAKE
                     (To Boston)
He may be on the outs now... but he's
been there and back. I'm thinking you
can learn a lot from him son.
                     (Beat)
He won't be here for long so don't
                waste time.

                          BOSTON
                Thanks Jake.

Jake goes about his work. Curtis gives Boston a steely look.

                          BOSTON
Oh, Jake? A couple of the usual?

      Jakes nods yes.

                          CURTIS
So, he likes your... music he says?

                          BOSTON
Only the one song so far.

      Jake brings the beer.

                          BOSTON
                Thanks.

      Jake exits.

                          BOSTON
Well, he did say he'd listen to my
tunes and if he thinks I'm good
enough, he'll introduce me to some
                contacts of his.
                     (Beat)
What have I got to lose?

      Curtis' jealousy shows.

                          CURTIS
                I don't know.
                     (Beat)
                Everything has its price.

Boston's puzzled. Both continue sipping their beers.

INT. STOKERS' UPSTAIRS - MOMENTS LATER

Charlie bursts in, breathing heavily, having an anxiety
      attack, begins pacing.

                          CHARLIE
                Fuck!

He takes some pills, sits down on bed. Tries to calm down.

He lays back, closes his eyes. Tries to breathe properly.

Suddenly doubles over onto side holding his gut, reaches for
mobile, types into browser for cab. Hits number.

                          CHARLIE (CONT'D)
                Stokers' Furnace... the bar.
                     (Beat)
                The Urgent Care Centre.
                     (Beat)
                Charlie.
                     (Beat)
                OK. I'll be out front.

Ends call. Charlie struggles to door. Composes himself best
      he can. Exits.
