RE: Iskolar Ng Bayan: Are They Worthy To Be Called Such?

in #opinion7 years ago

Exactly my point.. we didn't feel the difference having the Martial law implemented except for the additional security and curfew in our city ( not like the martial law before) so why do they have to make such a big deal about it when they are not even affected by it in the first place? I believe in a cause when I see one, its just that all the feedbacks are negative and then they'd go claiming that the people are with their cause? How can you say the people believe in your cause if you cant even read a single comment praising what you're doing? If I did something and know that people dislike what Im doing then why would I go claiming that the majority of the people like what I did when in fact they didn't? And I didnt say that the government wasted the taxes on them, I am just citing what the people's feedback on their cause. And like I said I didn't generalize all UP students since their number (those who rally) are but a fraction of them.

There's even a picture of a girl carrying a "Fuck You Marcos" signage and some even vandalize the streets. Is that what an educated person should do? And they're saying that the Freedom is oppressed? Then why can they burn an effigy without being arrested? Isn't that a sign that they are still FREE? Try doing that in other countries with no real freedom and let's see if they wont go to jail. Our governement need a "kamay na bakal" system in order to fight the drugs and corruption. I believe the President is doing what he can to make the Philippines a better place to live in and some people are fighting their best to protect their personal interests by discrediting him.

Hello again! Well it's not supposed to feel like the old ML because it's been revised. Anyhow, since we don't anymore feel the difference, do you think it's already not necessary? Do we want unnecessary laws being implemented?

If we claim that the people are with the cause, I am also only referring to a fraction of the population. However, that fraction is a big one. The feedback you see is just on social media, right? How many of the lumads are on social media? How many of the poorest of the poor - our fisherfolk, our farmers, the marginalized - are on social media? The thing is, there is no need of validation here especially from people who hide behind the platform. As for the taxes, well, I didn't say that either.

Freedom of speech is a right, not a privilege. Should we wait for our right to be disregarded before we act on it? And as far as I know rallies held in public places need to acquire a permit to hold a public assembly from the government itself. So when we think about it, these rallies are actually allowed.

Sure, that 'kamay na bakal' is really appealing. However, do you think that 'kamay na bakal' can also punch itself when drug and corruption come from the wielder himself? Who knows, right? Also, this is just unpopular opinion but the country is not ought to be run by the President or whoever it is 'in power'. It is ought to be run by the people. If it's the other way around, then that would be very wrong.

Have a nice day! :)

the declaration and extension of martial law is Constitutional, thus it's legal.

Students rallying is emobodied in our freedom of speech. basta may permit and hindi nanggugulo.

i agree with you na those who are directly affected on the siege, yung mga taga Mindanao - they dont even complain, and yet, mga taga-Maynila pa ang mga nagrereklamo e hindi naman directly affected ng siege.

then the State has this inherent powers called taxation. pwde i-repeal at magimplement ng bagong tax reform when the State sees fit. then itong tax ito naman yung ginagamit para sa free education dahil it is a Constitutional guarantee. tapos ito pang nga estudyante ang makikita mo nagrarally? i dont see any point. plus, wala pang tax tong mga to, estudyante nga e. . . pero parang sila pa yung umaastang may legal standing sa mga issues and concerns na nilalatag nila.

Hello, @rigormortiz! Nice name. Haha!

I found here an article by CNN Philippines and it's mentioned here all the check-and balance mechanisms in declaring ML and some important details summarized. It's been more than 60 days, and Marawi has been declared free off its captors. On what grounds is the ML extended for a very long time? There has also been no reports of state rebellion going on in Mindanao. Or has the government not fully disclosed all information regarding this?

You are correct that rallying is embodied in our freedom of speech. And as far as I know, may permit naman and wala namang nanggugulo. :)

And as for the recent TRAIN Law, personally, I am still looking into the deepest details on said law and its projected effect. So as of now, I still have no opinion on that. But these students are not umaastang may legal standing. Kasi there is not a lawsuit involved naman, if that's what you mean. And these rallies dont just constitute students, there are also people from the working population. In fact a recent walkout had some staff and jeepney drivers involved. They are just exercising their right to express.

And who says there's no reports of state rebellion going here in Mindanao? Didn't you hear the news that IS and other local rebels were currently recruiting more people to join their planned attacks in two of the cities here in Mindanao wherein one is where Im currently living? And don't just rely on news spreading around because most of them were just trying to immobilized the current administration. Believe in the locals who's been in the area themselves because they exactly know what was going on.

Unforunately, no. I didn't hear. I was not informed. That's just weird cause I'm a local too. My family are locals. My mistake, probably? I should probably listen more to hearsays.

Anyway, I think I should end my argument here. It's been a really long discussion. Congratulations on sparking some engagement on your article. 👍

I rest my case. 😊

I became curious as to where your location then because I am from Iligan CIty and I am telling you that that is not just a hearsay.
