Affected by YouTube’s Recent Monetization Changes?

in #opinion8 years ago

Don’t fret, make more money elsewhere instead! In my opinion, I don’t think YouTube had any respect for you or your content. How could they, without even seeing one of your videos in the first place; instead, they gave you a babysitter called “algorithm.”

It seems like a very inhuman monster that I feel stunted your growth because you are not the top 1%. You were not deemed “advertiser-friendly” and not “friends” with their employees so you never had a chance anyway.

This was my first blog on Steemit. I was very blessed and got the red carpet treatment --I was a nobody (I still am.) In fact, my first blog was so bad I didn’t even have an image in it to start with. I had no clue about blogging, formatting, I don’t create videos or many of the other things. I did, however, know someone who was kind enough to share my blog and it just snowballed.

Did YouTube even reward you like that in 2017? Think of the thousands of hours your poured soul and heart into creating content and you got demonetized. What did you do that was so wrong in the first place? Was it because you said, “FUCK, DAMMIT, I HATE SNOWFLAKES!!!!.” Who knows they are not very good at communicating you might have received a vague email informing you of demonetized!!!! FUCKING SHIT.

Come over to Steemit instead. We might not roll out the red carpet for you; but, anyone can come get a piece of our reward pool if they are willing to put in some hard work.

YouTube Did Everyone A Favor Even More So—You

To be fair YouTube had to do it. You see they made the deal with the devil. That devil's name is paid advertisement. When a paid advertisement gets displayed on dead bodies, hate, and racism they fear image/brand damage from sjw backlash and pull their money out.

  • They don’t appear to have enough advertisement to go around
  • The important stuff you want to discuss gets demonetized out of fear
  • They keep changing the rules a lot of the time because someone “famous” messes up

It this fair to you? Heck no you just wanted to build an amazing community around you and your content. What is the chance of that happening now if they won’t even toss you a few breadcrumbs from time to time ?

Even if they did can you even withdrawal a single sent of it? Ouch, high minimum withdrawal limits. I guess you won’t be spending that $20 at the movies this week to reward yourself or maybe buy needed essentials—like food.

Here You Have Options

Do we have our own video platform? Well, the nice thing about growing on the blockchain is people can create wonderful projects that expand and enhance everyone.

One such person went out and created https://d.tube/. I’ll be honest I’m not a video creator I’ve never used Dtube. I’ve seen many that have. It’s a wonderful alternative from my understanding. Here is their last blog that goes into details about it growing with many more links at the bottom that explains things better than I can Pushing it to the limit

In fact, if you just want get your feet wet you can still make a video over on YouTube, or elsewhere and post the link in your blog over here.

Have you ever tried to include detail instructions in your videos descript on other sites?

Ouch!!! That is not an enjoyable experience. Steemit is first and foremost a blogging platform. So if you make a video showing how to fix an issue on your car. You can also take photos and include a very detailed guide in lieu of your video if you like.

This means you can reach a wider audience. Those who learn from video and those who prefer to read instead or even both! No more people getting annoyed having to endlessly rewind a video to that one spot. Instead, they can just go down to your blog portion of your post and re-read what you wrote!

Now Hold On We Are Not The Land Of Unicorns And Magic

Recall that blog that I screen capture towards the start.

As you can see 66.08 worth went to the author (that’s me) and 19.46 worth was split between the curators (anyone on this platform that found my content and upvoted it during the 7 days it was open.)

Awesome people made money from finding my content and tossing it some upvotes. Even better some of those people left me well thought out comments and I tossed them an upvote. Naturally, it was not worth much as I was new but it’s the thought that counts. Try doing that in your YouTube comment sections (who even reads those anyway?)

That cool but how do you get “paid?” You know that word you keep hearing “cryptocurrency” and keep telling yourself “I wish I could get in on that.” Well, you are in luck. Steemit platform pays out in cryptocurrency.

Here you earn SBD (Steem Dollars) and SP (Steem Power). Once the 7-day window closes you are paid out your coins to your account. SBD you can directly exchange right away on many exchanges, or with other people on our platform. SP, on the other hand, takes a little bit of time to power down into Steem that then can also be exchanged.

From an exchange, you can turn it into something like Bitcoin from there you can go shopping at a merchant that accepts that as payment or even cash out to a bank account or PayPal using a site like https://www.coinbase.com/ by sending them that bitcoin or lightcoin that you exchange for.

Not Ready to Make the Switch Yet?

I understand you feel overwhelmed. We all did when we started out on Steemit. In case it does not sound like it’s for you. Please do yourself a favor and find another alternative stream of revenue. All the “big” Youtubers can do it and so should you!

Or you could just keep doing what you are doing and hope they don’t up to the requirements yet again. There is no way they would push you back down the stairs a third time in a row, would they? I understand that feeling more than I would like to get into.

For Those Making The Switch Over

Create a free account https://steemit.com What do you have to lose? Your first account is free and on them! Yes, it will take a little while for them to verify and activate your account. It’s to protect the system from people trying to flood free account creation. People sometimes buy themselves another account. That goes beyond the scope of this blog.

You don’t have to buy anything at all.

Read up on our fAQ

When you do get here make your first blog and tell us more about yourself. We want to know more about you and what you are bringing to the platform. Use a tag like introduceyourself. Make sure to pick a catchy title so people know something like “I’m tired of being treated like trash so I switch over to Steemit.”

Find other people’s blogs who are posting in introduceyourself and make new connections. Grow as a team and even join one of the many communities out there.

Tell people on your social media accounts you have made the switch and so should they. They can now support you over at Steemit!

If nothing else have an enjoyable time. Enjoy the freedoms the blockchain and cryptocurrency give you. Changing is coming are you willing to make it?

Information

This was written by @enjar solely on my own personal opinion of how you should handle losing a source of income from a site like YouTube.

I personally think you can do much better for yourself anyways.

Sounds wonderful, thanks for stopping by.

I still post photos on other Social media sites, have never used youtube much at all, but the only sitre I am active on and interact now is Steemit,

sure the chance to earn a little bit and I am still small so very little for me, but its better than nothing but what makes this site more special is the wonderful sense of community

tip!

I don’t know a platform with a better community out their!

I don’t think there is any better

Great work on this, @enjar. I only disliked the part where you said it might not be for you. Steem is for everyone, they just have to suck it up and open their mind to new technology. Youtube is a dead platform walking, and paid advertisement will die too unless it plays by our rules.

Well you made my point for me though. Not everyone is ready for change. Some people just want be dinosaurs. If someone is not willing to take a chance you just can’t look at them and say “suck it up” why they been told that more times than they can count.

People do what they want in life. If people want take a chance and put some effort into things then Steemit IS the right place for them. If they want come over here and copy/paste articles off the internet then we are not the place for them.
