There is no good war or bad peace.

The price of every war is always the tragedy of an individual family. Where fathers, sons, brothers and husbands die in battles. Where the civilian population is subjected to robbery, violence and murder. Where loved ones and relatives are separated against their will and very often forever. I happened to visit the abandoned city of Kayakoy, which was deserted and fell into decay after the forced population exchange between Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria in 1923. This event was the result of the Lausanne Peace Treaty, which was concluded by the countries at the end of the Second Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922). According to the terms of the Treaty of Lausanne, where Greece was defeated, approximately 1.5 million Greeks living in Turkey were to return to Greece, and about 500,000 Turks living in Greece were to go to Turkey. Until the 1920s, Kayakoy, (the ancient city of Karmilassos), where a mixed population of Greeks and Turks lived for centuries, flourished. Now there are ruins and several residential buildings, whose inhabitants survive only thanks to tourists. This woman returned to her family home, where her grandfather once lived, and later her father. Here is her historical homeland, she does not want to leave her land. Good luck and joy from every day spent at home. Thanks for the bracelet, I still wear it.
