Github Is The Coolest Tool.

Pretty much everyone else in the world that I am interested in already new this, but now I see how much I have been missing. It is now my go-to tool for editing and organizing.

I just joined Github this past December in an effort to centralize (did I just say that?) my efforts to curate open source documentation of projects. I thought that using Github would make it easier to continue to make changes on documents as well as collaborate if anyone was ever interested in the project. It also makes my work more visible to anyone that might want to see it. Those are all obviously pretty good things.

Between using Spee.ch for my graphics and Github for editing work, I have much more access to my material. It is much easier to work either on my workstation or on the road when all my material is just a web browser away and organizing is streamlined.

What I would like to see now is a way to encourage participation through maybe Utopian.io I'm still having a hard time figuring out how Utopian works. I also don't think my little project has enough value yet to attract much attention, but I do think it will if I get to keep working at it like I have been lately.

Off I go to spend some time trying to figure out Utopian.io a little better.

Oh, wow. I am using Github to test and learn things, plus I host my fiction blog there too.
Spee.ch says to be under the maintenance, but I bookmarked it and will see to use it when maintenance is done.
I have a few things on GitHub and currently running a few funny scripts for my Discord thought the Heroku.
I am looking forward to see your work in the future. Cheers!

Awesome. That is a neat way to use Github. My daughter is a writer. I wonder how useful it would be for her.

I wonder what is wrong with Spee.ch. I'll go check it out.

I love GitHub also but I haven't been using it enough. I just recently started using it again.

What I really like about it is I can write from the command prompt using Joe (my editor of choice), make a commit and push it to GitHub for backup. I don't have to open a thousand apps. I don't even have to use my mouse.

For distraction free writing you can't beat the command prompt and adding git to this makes for a smooth and complete workflow.

Write/Edit --> Ctrl K+X to save in Joe --> git add . --> git commit -m "stuff" --> git push origin master --> exit

It just doesn't get any smoother.

The icing on the cake is I can now access the file from anywhere thanks to github.

Thanks for the post.

Keep Steeming!

Interesting. I'm a command line user myself. I like nice colorful Vim scripts for editing, so I will look into your suggestion!

Thanks.

Yeah, i never got into vim. My first shell account there were two editors, pico and joe. I chose joe and I've been using it ever since.

I don't get all crazy about it though like the emacs nerds. Those guys are fanatics. lol.

lol. Yup. We all have to geek out about something.

Utopian-io hasn't been the easiest thing to wrap my head around either. I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but yea, I'm with you.

What is the concept behind your project? Drop a github link?

The concept it basically: Digging into the tools, concepts, & stories of creating solutions for a robust and peaceful society through voluntary interactions

My Github account

Got me looking into https://lbry.io :)

LBRY is one of the coolest projects I've seen, along with the Steem blockchain. I think that if the two could play well together, we would have some really great tools.

How I understand it is that Utopian.io is the decentralized version of Github, built on the STEEM blockchain. Is that correct?

Also, utopian-io gives huge upvotes hehe

I'm not sure it is a decentralized Github, but it appears to be connected, and I'm not exactly sure how. I don't think I can use Utopian.io to edit Github and/ or get votes for activity on Github, if that's what you mean. That is what is currently confusing me. They seem to be separate. Hopefully my meager mind will wrap around it soon.

I think the goal of utopian is moving the contents of Github to the Steem blockchain. Not sure though..

It's a good article, my friend. I'm trying to understand, but I do not have coding knowledge. That's why I can not get approval from utopian-io. I'm working on Githup, I hope to learn as soon as possible.

Thank you.

I actually don't code either. I do have some coding experience, but I'm using Github for something a bit different. I should have explained that more in this article, but I use it just for documentation.

I don't know what your skillset is, but I do know that Utopian.io is looking for documentation, translation, graphics and other things as well.

Utopian-io isn't only for people who know code. You can do user tutorials, video tutorials, bug reports, translation, blogs, and copywriting.

Utopian-io has tightened up on their post expectations. They've raised the bar in an effort to eliminate poor quality contributions.

Github has become crucial for blockchain prjects ( and not only). I am very glad you are sharing something that worked for you with us. Like the podcasts few weeks ago !

P.S. There are a lot of Steemians, who are PRO in Utopian.io, I guess you can shout out for a bit of clarification.

It is a mainstay for open source projects of all sorts, which is my primary focus. I noticed Utopian is very "Steemy" lol.

excelente, saludos amigo..

Great post tnx for sharing I just upvote check out my post steemit all the way
