New Router - DIY with VYOS

I recently acquired a box from protectli to use as my new router.

The current router that I have now is a Linksys EA 8300.

The Linksys is a good router however I am looking to add some custom features that are not available in any home router.

For example I want to add the following:

  • a wireguard VPN
  • flow control and traffic usage reports
  • SNMP monitoring
  • Multiple LAN subnets
  • a tunnel to Hurricane Electric for IPv6 access

I have chosen to install VYOS on this box as the router operating system

Over the next few days I will post another writeup showing how I setup VYOS for what I need.
