After some weeks away, here's my entry for this week's @openmic!
Elegí para esta ocasión una canción que no he cantado en mucho tiempo, pero que volvió a mí en estos días.
Se llama "Manifiesto" y es de Víctor Jara, un gran cantautor chileno.
I've chosen for this week a song I haven’t sung in a while, but these days it has returned to me!
It's called "Manifiesto" and is from Víctor Jara, a great chilean songwriter.

I sing because the guitar

Here I fit my singing
as Violeta said
working guitar

my song is from the scaffolding
to reach the stars,
that the singing makes sense
when it beats in the veins
who will die singing
the true truths,
not the fleeting flattery
nor the foreign fames
but the song of a leather patch
to the bottom of the earth.
Where everything arrives
and where everything starts
singing that has been brave
it will always be a new song.
